William Hutchens Advancement to Partner Brings More Investment Options to Clients
Concord, N.H. – December 3, 2019– Granite Investment Advisors, an employee owned, independent registered investment firm in downtown Concord, is pleased to announce that William D. Hutchens, Jr., CFA® has been named partner in the firm.
Hutchens has served the firm as Managing Director and Head of the Core Growth equity strategy since January of 2018, when his firm, Hutchens Investment Management, was acquired by Granite Investment Advisors.
“We are thrilled to have Bill as a Partner in Granite Investment Advisors, and looking forward to the contributions he will make in shaping our future direction,” said Scott Schermerhorn, Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer. “Having more voices with specialty experience around the table will take the firm to new levels, which is good for our clients.”
The acquisition of Hutchens Investment Management in 2018 allowed Granite Investment Advisors to expand service offerings, broadening the range of investment products to include growth investment options. This not only led to more choice for existing clients, it provided non-clients with a reason to see what Granite Investment Advisors has to offer.
“This is a very exciting time to be at Granite Investment Advisors and I’m looking forward to contributing in a more direct way to the firm’s future,” said Hutchens. “Being part of the group that drives the firm’s business will be gratifying, and I’m excited about the potential for growth.”
Schermerhorn and Hutchens both noted the advantages of providing both value and growth investment options for clients. Over time, companies and stocks can alternate between growth and value cycles. Clients can also face changing needs that in some situations would require more of an emphasis on growth and at other times would require a greater focus on income needs. Having expertise and offerings that provide both, means more solutions that meet client needs as they change over time—allowing Granite Investment Advisors to build deep and lasting lifetime relationships with their clients.
Hutchens’s progression to partner at Granite is the latest advancement in a career that included a stint at Taylor Investments, the predecessor firm to Granite Investment Advisors. In 1995, he founded Hutchens Investments, providing investment management for individuals and institutions.
